The Guy in the Mirror

As I stand here,

Alone,

Staring into his eyes,

I see someone I don’t know.

Grey, bleak,

Such sadness,

Such darkness,

So black and cold,

As though it is

A frozen wasteland,

Trapped,

In the stillness of time,

Away from the sun,

Lost in perpetual night.

And yet,

In the distance,

There is a faint light,

A slim glimmer of hope,

Not of who you are,

But of who you want to be,

Of who you are determined

To become.

Focus on that light,

And never give up.

With each passing day,

The you

You are destined to be

Will start to awaken,

More and more,

As you create

Your very own

Burning sun.

Losing my way in my mid-20s.
