The Eternal Love of Romeo and Juliet

If love were but a simple rose,

Protected by thorns to keep me away,

My passion for thee

Would always grow

Through bone and muscle,

Deep into my body,

Beyond the shallow depths of my heart,

Till it pierces the very essence of my soul.

Touched not by just your majestic beauty,

But by your ever-transcendent spirit,

My love for you is eternal.

For your kiss is far more than a mere moment’s embrace;

It stills my heart—

Forever frozen,

Forever yours.

For time does not matter anymore,

Just your love

And your heart

Entwined with mine,

Amongst a bed of roses.

Lost but never forgotten,

Together always,

As though we are one.

Written in memory and gratitude to Shakespeare.
